Walking Tour of Tamarisk’s Iconic Architecture by Preservation Mirage

Discover the midcentury architectural gems of Rancho Mirage on a two-hour guided walking tour led by local nonprofit Preservation Mirage. The Tamarisk neighborhood is a treasure trove of iconic architecture and features some of the most significant homes in the Coachella Valley.

We begin with a deep dive into the fascinating history of Tamarisk Country Club, established in 1952, where entertainers like Frank Sinatra and the Marx Brothers owned homes. Then walk on quiet, flat public streets to explore historic homes designed by famed Modernist architects including William F. Cody, Hugh Kaptur, William Krisel, Val Powelson, Stan Sackley, Crombie Taylor and Donald Wexler. You’ll also see fine examples of resort-style communities, including one (1) interior home tour at Cody Court by William F. Cody and a stroll through the central courtyard of Tamarisk Ranchos by William Krisel, both designated historic districts.

Funds raised goes towards Preservation Mirage, which works to bring the story of Rancho Mirage to life by connecting people to its vibrant architectural history. Preservation Mirage is an official sponsor of Modernism Week.
