Touring the Architectural Gem

The undisputed highlight of the night is a tour of Lautner's 1947 residential fourplex, affectionately known as “The Lautner.” Originally the Desert Hot Springs Motel, and later Hotel Lautner, it now anchors The Lautner Compound—a masterful collection of four boutique properties:

  • “The Lautner”: An elite hybrid between boutique hotel and vacation rental allowing architecture aficionados a chance to truly live the Lautner Lifestyle.
  • “The Park”: A stunning 10,000 sq. ft. open-air event space with breathtaking San Jacinto Mountain views.
  • “The Ranch House”: A 1957 California Bungalow offering guest services for weddings and special events.
  • “The Clubhouse”: The newest acquisition, available for lodging, weddings, and special events.

The Lautner Legacy

As the most famous protégé of Frank Lloyd Wright, John Lautner’s work—especially “The Lautner”—echoes the principles he absorbed while studying for six years at Wright’s Taliesin West. Lautner stands as one of the last century’s most important contemporary American architects, known for exploring the relationship between human life, space, and nature. You may also recognize his signature style in homes like the Bob Hope Residence and the Arthur Elrod Residence in Palm Springs.

Support the Vision

Your attendance makes a difference! A portion of the proceeds will benefit the John Lautner Foundation. You’ll be supporting their vital mission to preserve the Lautner archive, educate the public, and ensure the protection and maintenance of all Lautner structures. Be an integral part of preserving Lautner’s architectural legacy for generations to come.
